So today I'm here with the wonderful ThePlumbob! I'm so glad I could have you as the first guest on the show! Thank you so much for having me, it's great to be here! So let's talk about you for a second. When did you start playing The Sims? I know that I started playing when I was quite young! Me too! I think I was about 13 - it was around the time when The Sims House Party came out. I saw an article about it in my cousin's Game magazine and asked him what it was; he said, in quite a macho way, that you're a guy that has to take care of his family. Later in the year I played the game at a friend's house once, and got hooked immediately. The rest is history... That sounds like exactly what happened to me! So let's get to your story, The Bloomer Legacy, is this the first Simlit story you've ever done? Or have you made more stories across all The Sims games? I think back in The Sims 2 I tried to upload a few albums with commentary, but I wouldn't really call that a story. Like many Simmers, I always have a bit of a story in mind when I play, but this is the first time I'm actually writing and sharing it. That's really interesting considering the story you're writing right now is really well written! Speaking of which your legacy story isn't the average legacy, right? Aren't you doing the Build Newcrest Challenge? Thank you! I'm sure there's better writers out there, I mainly focus on communicating the story and the characters' personalities than being too hard on myself in terms of language and form. Hopefully it's the right direction! Yes! When I first came across the Build Newcrest Challenge by Simply Vanilla Sims blog, I felt like it was made for me. You see, I have always played legacy-style, as in I like to start my sims off dirt poor, make their way up and follow the same family for generations. However, I could never be quite Pinstar perfect, because I like to move the family around and get a bit if a fresh scenery every generation; I get too bored with the view if I play on the same lot for too long. The Build Newcrest challenge requires you to move around as you complete the generational building goals, which I love. I also feel that building up the city gives the legacy family an additional purpose, and truly leaves, well, a legacy. My sims can still go to the park built by the founder, and even though they haven't met him in their lifetime, they know of him. Wow...that makes it seem so much more heartfelt when you say it like that! So can you tell us a little about your specific legacy? I'm sure all of us out there are wanting to know some inside stuff! Well, the Bloomer legacy is on their third generation at the moment, with the current heir getting fairly close to being able to build a neighborhood library. The family has had some ups and downs along the way - we've been through a criminal conspiracy, a family feud and a ghost revival! For the most part, I let my sims guide me with their traits, wishes and aspirations. When I do take detours to nudge the story a certain way myself, I like to think about what would seem like a natural decision for the said characters. I try to have my sims pursue the life they want - the problem is those aspirations sometimes clash with what the other family members strive for. So far, each of the generations has been quite unique - we had the outdoor loving founder who started with nothing to his name whatsoever and earned his way up through gardening and fishing as he camped out in a tent. His son Isaac had two distinct sides of him; he was rather mean and could end up hurting people around him, but he was also a family man and he did the most romantic thing out of all of my sims to date! It's probably worth saying that while I play within the legacy framework, I'm not afraid to stray away from the rules at times. My main weakness is occasionally playing spares, because I end up loving them all! Hopefully my readers end up liking them as much as I do. Very interesting! In my opinion it seems that it is almost becoming the norm to play spares and expand on their stories. I know from reading some other Simlit legacies that other people do it too, myself included! So we're getting to the end of the show here but I still have a few more questions, one of them being, who is your most favorite Sim you've played with throughout your legacy so far? It's hard to let those spares go, isn't it? Favourite sim... Gosh, that's a hard one, I'm so fickle with my affections! I got really attached to my second generation heir Isaac, because he had such a wholesome personality - a bit of good and a bit of bad - and because he's went through a lot of character growth; I felt like we've been through a lot together! Though at the moment my favourite is probably one of the children of generation 3, Yennefer. Being adopted from another family member with a dark past, she has quite a rich backstory and is shaping up as an intriguing character already; even though she's only just turned into a teen in my game! Oh wow that means you're farther along in the game than you're giving off in the stories! So does that mean you do really long play sessions and then separate the screenshots into the corresponding chapters? Or do you just play when you have the time? My regular routine is playing a long session once a week, or once every two weeks even, depending on what I have going on at the time and how much I get sucked into the game. Then I usually plan my chapters out with screenshots, figure out how I want to split things out and if there's a particular angle I want to take. Finally, I write up the chapters several at a time too; I normally write about 3 - 4 chapters in one go, so I probably end up writing about twice a week or so. I like to plan my updates ahead of time to manage my time effectively; I could tell you exactly what update I'll have up this time next week! Of course that's not necessarily always the case, there are times when I catch up with my gameplay, and that's when it's time to repeat the whole process. Wow, sounds like you're busy most of the time I think most of us out there can understand that feeling! But unfortunately that's all the time we have for today, so thank you so much for being a guest on the show! Thank you for having me, I've had a wonderful time here and I look forward to following the show going forward! To the viewers out there I highly suggest checking out The Bloomer Legacy! I can tell you from personal experience that this story will leave you craving more! See you guys next time!
