Damen sat on the edge of his and Gretchen's bed. His head foggy from drinking the past couple of days, and last night he had finally come back to his house and had woken up the next morning to find Gretchen lying in bed, beside him, looking as beautiful as ever. Leaning over, Damen pet Gretchen's sleeping head and kissed her softly on the forehead. Why had he done what he did? He had so much love already and now he threw it all away. Damen held his head in his hands as the previous nights events came rushing back to him.
He had already been drinking at the same bar he had been frequenting the past couple of days, the bartender and owner let him rent a room upstairs and he had been staying there ever since the incident with Dante. Last night was an important night in particular because that was the night he met the seductress, who was completely decked out in a skintight black dress and heels to match.
She flirted with him and Damen never even got her name, but with as much juice as he had already consumed her emerald green eyes were mesmerizing him.
He asked her if she wanted to dance and Damen remembers how she batted her long eyelashes at him and giggled.
He remembered the way she swayed her body back and forth as they danced and how he just wanted to be close to her, and run his fingers through that fiery red hair of hers.
To close. Already to close.
He couldn't stop himself, he knew he shouldn't be doing this but then why did he ask her if she wanted to go back to her house?
Damen saw more flashes of kisses and touching, being so close to her that just the smell of her was intoxicating him.
He also remembered getting way to close. Closer than he had been with anybody, other than Gretchen, in a while.
Still drunk from the juice, he remembers stumbling out of her bedroom and hearing her voice as smooth as velvet calling after him to come back to her. He knew he had to leave, he felt dirty and wanted to go back to Gretchen. He needed her.
Stumbling up the front steps he ran into the column and leaned against it. Damen hadn't been home in almost a week and being as drunk as he was he had to try his hardest to just sneak in and not wake the kids.
Somehow he made it up the stairs and collapsed onto his and Gretchen's bed and fell into a deep juice induced sleep while looking at the pictures they had taken together only a few days after him and Gretchen had gotten married.
Damen remembered everything and as his wife stirred beside him his heart hurt. How could he betray Gretchen like this? He promised her a long time ago he would try and he never did, and now he's gone and done this. He heard a soft and confused voice behind him,
Tears pricked at the corners of his eyes as he said quietly,
Damen: I messed up big time Gretch...
