Gretchen had slept in her clothes the night before everything went down, because when she came into the room she found Damen passed out on their bed and she didn't want to wake him up. What she didn't expect was waking up the next morning to a worried and sad Damen sitting on the edge of the bed. When he explained to her what happened the night before she lost it.
Gretchen: No, I don't even WANT to hear a sorry! Do you even know why I entered into this marriage?! Protection. Yea I said protection, why do I need it? Because if you haven't already found out yet I am a CRIMINAL. Yea a plumming criminal along with my sister Charlotte. We were apart of an operation at our base called the Lollipop Lair. That's the whole reason we even came here and I knew that marrying into a legacy family would give me privilege and access to good lawyers and a plum of a lot of money. And then, AND THEN you wanna know something really funny?! I actually started to fall in love with you?! Can you even believe that?! With how you act and with how you don't even spend time with our children I don't even understand how I came to love you but I do! I mean..I did...I'm not sure how I feel anymore after hearing that you CHEATED ON ME.
Gretchen held her sides and started to pace around their room,
Gretchen: Oh if my mother could see me now. She would not like what I have become.
She whipped back around and pointed a finger accusingly at Damen,
Gretchen: And YOU. I told you if you didn't try to become a better husband and father before we got into all this I had the right to divorce your sorry plum and take MY children away.
Damen's face paled as he wrung his hands at Gretchen,
Damen: Baby please don't leave me and don't take my kids away, think about the legacy that you got yourself involved with! I have to keep this thing going and if I don't everything my Grandmother Violet did was all in vain!
Gretchen: Don't you "baby" me. You haven't shown any interest of love in me except when we have to make a child or if you're in the mood. You haven't even told me you loved me, so you have no right to use cutsie names like that!
Gretchen let out a loud sigh and sat down on the bed and closed her eyes. Smiling nervously, Damen raised his hands and said,
Damen: But Gretch, I do love you. I've LEARNED to love you and I realized when I plummed up so bad the other night that I don't want anyone but you!
Gretchen chuckled and tears started to stream down her cheeks. Quickly she wiped them away with the back of her hand.
Gretchen: I don't think you can even understand love Damen. You say that you love me but I think deep down you just realized what you did was wrong and you knew you were going to get in trouble.
Damen got down on his knees in front of Gretchen and grabbed her hands,
Damen: I'll prove it to you. I swear. Please just don't leave me, this won't ever happen again. I'll be better, I promise.
Gretchen pulled her hands away and got up to go to the dresser. No way was she going to work today after all of this. Today was a lazy day. While she was changing into more comfortable clothes she looked over her shoulder at Damen,
Gretchen: If you don't change, I'm leaving you.
After leaving Damen in the room alone, Gretchen hurried downstairs before the kids woke up so she could make breakfast.
Gretchen: *mumbles* Stupid Damen. Why do I even still love him. I hate this, I knew I shouldn't have developed feelings for him! I heard how he acted and what he did. I don't understand what I expected...
Gretchen sighed and closed her eyes as she leaned against the counter,
Gretchen: You have to stay for the kids Gretchen, they're the reason you're still here. Just remember that.
Breakfast had finally been finished and the kids were woken up from their sleep so they could eat. After that Gretchen made their plates and had started to go through the house doing her daily round of cleaning up everything. Meanwhile the kids were discussing something they heard while they were sleeping that morning,
Myles: Soooo did anyone else hear Mommy and Dad fighting earlier?
Cian: I could have swore I heard Mommy saying a lot of bad words to Dad but I couldn't understand what all those things meant.
Jax: Maybe they were just playing the yelling game, like we do when we're outside?
Celine: I don't know Jax, I think Mommy and Daddy are fighting about something bad that Daddy did. Last night when I got up from bed to get a glass of milk I saw Daddy come in from outside and fall up the stairs to his room. When I tried to say hi he completely ignored me! He smelled funny too. Since he's been gone so long I guess he didn't have a shower where he was!
The kids shrugged their shoulders and went back to eating their breakfast. They were far to young to understand such trivial matters.
After the kids had left for school Damen finally got up the courage to go downstairs and try and eat some real food today. He'd been living off of pizza and bar food for the past few days and he desperately wanted something warm. Right before he started to dig into the french toast Gretchen had prepared Angelo came into the dining room and sat down, while giving his son a warm smile. Frustrated Damen set his fork down on the table and stared at his father,
Damen: What do you want Dad.
Angelo: I couldn't help but overhear you and Gretchen fighting earlier. You know you missed meeting her family.
Damen rubbed his face with his hand and sighed,
Damen: Yea I know...I needed time for myself okay?
Angelo: Son, you are the heir of a legacy. You have no time for yourself. Your life is this legacy.
Damen: And I'm trying to still wrap my head around that even after all these years, Dad! I never wanted this so now I'm stuck with this lame freaking job of being the heir and having to bring in money for this family. Do you even know how tough of a burden that is?
Angelo: Well I don't, but I know your Mom did. She was constantly stressed from having to carry on the legacy name. You know she actually went to work the whole time she was pregnant and never took family leave? She knew what it meant to be an heir, and she was proud of that. Learn from your Mother son, she was a good woman to look up to.
Later that day, after the kids had gotten home from school, Angelo decided to take them to the park to play. He didn't want his grandchildren to have to be around such negativity, he believed it would effect the way they grew up. Angelo even thought that that was the reason Damen grew up to be Evil, because of what happened between Sunny and James.
Angelo: RAAAAAH!! I AM THE GREAT AND MIGHTY KRAKEN!
Jax: Gotta steer left crew! Be prepared for a sharp turn!
Myles: Look out on the port-side...or whatever it's called! The, uh, right! YEA THE RIGHT!
Celine: Pew Pew Pew!
Cian: Wow Celine you got him! We're all saved! Hail the greatest pirate ever, Celine!
Celine: Heh heh, I can vanquish anything in my path!
Once their trip to the park was over Angelo decided to try his hand at helping the kids with their homework. Buuuut that didn't exactly go as planned,
Angelo: So carry the one-
Celine: Grandpa, noooo! I already told you you have to carry the 3 first!
Angelo squinched his eyes together and looked hard at the workbook,
Angelo: Uh yea that's what I meant!
Jax: Grandpa why don't you just help us with the Simlish section we have to do later?
Angelo: Yea...I'm not very good at Simlish either..how about I teach you guys how to play football?!
Celine, Jax, Cian, & Myles: No!
Angelo: *mumbles* Aw well at least I tried to turn one of them into an athlete.
Gretchen had gotten home earlier than expected from work and decided to try out a new gourmet dish that she saw on TV. She wanted to see her children's reactions to it so she didn't grab a plate herself.
Gretchen: So what do you think you guys?
Celine: Um well my plate is almost empty so it's really good!
Cian: Same! My food is almost gone too! Do you think I could have some more?
Gretchen looked at Myles who was poking at his pasta with a fork,
Gretchen: What about you hunny?
Myles: Uh...there is green stuff in here...
Gretchen: It's just bell peppers sweetheart, they won't kill you. What about you Jax? Do you like it?
Jax looked it his Mom with a pained smile and nodded his head,
Jax: Yea Mommy it's the best!
Celine was playing with the last little bit of her food when she looked nervously up at her Mom,
Celine: So..Mommy...are you and Daddy okay?
Gretchen's smile froze in place and her body went rigid. All her children were looking at her, including Angelo.
Gretchen: We'll be fine baby don't you worry. Now finish up your food, Mommy has some work to go do now.
Before leaving the room Gretchen kissed all of her kids on the forehead and Angelo gave her a worried glance as she left the room.
That night Cian and Jax were playing with the dollhouse when Jax looked up at his older brother with tears in his eyes,
Jax: We aren't gonna leave the house are we? I'm afraid Mommy and Dad are gonna leave each other and we'll have to leave.
Cian, being the big brother he is, puffed out his chest and ruffled his brothers hair.
Cian: No way little bro, everything will be okay. I promise.
After school the next day Celine came home extremely angry. She had been woken up by her parents fighting again and she was getting sick of it.
Celine: Everyone, to the playground!
Cian: But Celine we need to-
Celine: So this is what's gonna happen you guys. I am so sick of being woken up by Mommy and Daddy fighting and I want to get out of the house and explore the neighborhood. Cian your birthday is coming up and we haven't even met half of our other family! So I propose we go on an adventure to meet the rest of them!
The rest of the boys just shrugged their head and went along with it. Even though Cian was the oldest they all knew who was really in charge.
The first place they went to was Starks family. Half the kids met their Aunt and Uncle outside and the other half met their cousins inside.
Myles: Uh..Uncle Stark why are you frowning?
Stark: The unicorns took my flowers away...
Myles: Ummmm okay?
Aldo: You have a funny hat.
Celine: Who's hat are you callin' funny?!
Cian: Uh dude I would not tell her that.
Then they went to go see Castiel's family. Well they first just wanted to meet Opal but then Castiel and Ruby both came into the kids room.
Ruby: You guys have to be quiet because Mark is still asleep okay?
Celine, Jax, Myles, Cian, & Opal: Okay!
Castiel: You kids have fun! You guys can only stay one more hour but then it will be getting dark soon and I'll have to drive you back home. Have fun!
When the kids finally were dropped back off by Castiel and they all sat down for dinner, they got a surprise visit from somebody!
Jax: Wait soooo...you're telling me you're my Grandma?
Myles: Then why are you see through and green?
Sunny: Uh well...I'm magic!
Celine: Ooooooh does that mean we're magic too?!
Sunny: No sweetie, but you can be cool like me! You just have to believe in yourself!
Cian: Why don't you live with us Grandma? Does Grandpa know you're still around?
Sunny smiled warmly at him,
Sunny: Yes sweetheart. I visit him on a regular occasion.
