Things moved fast after Jensen passed away. Harley immediately wanted Mason to move in, she’d been waiting years for him to come back and she wasn’t going to let him get away again. Coheed and Claudio were beyond excited, but Delsin was a totally different story. As they were packing to leave for their camping trip Delsin almost started a fist fight with Mason. Harley knew he was angry about him moving in but she didn’t expect him to cause a scene, especially in front of Holly. It only took a few hours to get to Granite Falls but the boys were already totally done with camping, teenagers these days. “Ugh, Dad! You didn’t say we weren’t going to stay in a lodge!” “Yea Dad. I mean look at it! All it is, is a dirt lot with some leftover camping gear on it!” Harley looked around nervously, “Mason, isn’t there bears out here? Wouldn’t it have been safer if we stayed in a lodge?” “Oh come on you guys! This is our first family trip ever and I wanted to make it memorable! There’s nothing wrong with getting a little dirty.” Mason unpacked the truck with all their camping equipment and after pitching the tents he had a special surprise for Claudio. But when he went to find him he looked so sad it hurt Mason’s heart. “Hey there kiddo. What’s got you down?” Claudio shrugged his shoulders, “It’s just...you're finally in our lives now but it doesn’t seem like anyone is happy with that. Grandpa kind of forgave you before he died but he yelled at you too. Plus I really miss Grandpa, I know he was mean to you but me and Coheed grew up with him there our entire lives and it’s weird not having him bossing us around like we’re one of his cadets at the police station.” Mason squeezed Claudio’s shoulders gently, “I know son...I did some bad things and hurt some people but that won’t stop me and your Mom from making our family whole again.” Mason pointed at the guitar that he had just bought from the camping store, “I wanted to show you this. I know you always had an interest in music so I thought you could start off with learning how to play the guitar. Wanna play some campfire songs for us tonight?” Claudio perked up and shook his head, “Sure Dad! Thanks for getting me this, I know at home we have a music room with every instrument imaginable but I’ll keep this one close because it came from you.” Mason left Claudio alone to practice on his new guitar and went to find Harley, who was of course getting everything situated perfectly near the tents. Mason gently grabbed Harley’s chin and pulled her towards him, “Hey there pretty lady, how are you feeling?” Harley sighed and leaned into Mason’s hand, “It feels nice to be able to be with you. Our families together now for our first real vacation and I love it. Of course I WOULD have liked a lodge…” Mason pulled Harley in closer to him and wrapped his arms around her, “Is legacy girl to good to go camping? You been pampered too much? Harley rolled her eyes, “Sorry I’m not a rugged lady!” Mason chuckled, leaned in and kissed Harley, something he’d been wanting to do since he saw her again on that front porch after so many years. After everyone had settled in it was time for the games to begin. First off Harley really wanted to try horseshoes so everyone gathered around and prepared for a really bad game. “Hey Mom! Mom! Momma!” Claudio turned around and playfully punched his brother in the chest, “Hey man! Don’t make her lose concentration or she’ll mess up!” Mason laughed, “Believe me Coheed you do not want to see your Mother when she loses.” After an actually decent round of horseshoes Mason got out some playing cards and they all sat around the table. Claudio waved his cards in the air, swatting away bugs, “Hey bro, you know the point of Go Fish is not to show your cards, right?” “Yea, yea I know. It’s just there’s all these damn bugs!” Harley glared at Claudio, “Watch your language young man. I better not have to do what they did to bad kids back in the day and wash your mouth out with soap!” “Sorry Momma…” “Mason. I see you trying to sneak a peek at my cards.” “Huh?! What?! Pfft nuh uh, I’m not doing anything.” “Dad. We all saw you. You’re not very good at cheating.” The card game was down to Mason and Claudio but Mason ended up winning, surprisingly. Afterwards Harley started on dinner, which was going to be hamburgers. Mason came over and grabbed a water out of the cooler and sat down. “Harley we have to talk this has been bugging me since we got here.” “Sure, what is it babe?” Mason scratched the back of his head and sighed, “Look, I know I just moved in but living with your brother is going to be hard. He almost beat the crap out of me right in front of his daughter! I’m a little worried what he will do when we get back. I know your Mom doesn’t really care for me either.” “Mason! It’s just us now! We’ve wanted this for years! Coheed and Claudio finally have their real father and we have each other. I’ll talk to Delsin and see what we can do, but I want you to know that when you left he was the one that took care of me when my parents didn’t. And when the boys were born he was basically their father figure. So I hope you don’t want me to kick my own brother out.” “No Harley, that’s not what I want. But I’ve lived years with people who hated me and I don’t want that for the rest of my life. I want our family to live the rest of our lives peacefully. That’s all I’m saying.” After the burgers were done Harley called Coheed and Claudio to dinner. Right away she realized something was wrong with the youngest twin, Claudio. “Sweetheart what’s wrong?” Claudio picked at his burger and shrugged, “Nothing Momma…” Coheed burst into laughter, “Oh come on Claudio! Tell her!” Coheed shook his head and turned to his Mom, “Since we’ve been in school Claudio has had this crush on a girl in his Simlish 111 class and turns out she got a boyfriend as soon as we left to go on vacation!” “Awww baby, I’m sorry to hear that! How’d you find out?” “How else Mom? I found out on Simbook! I just can’t believe she would too that to me...I thought we had a thing.” Coheed laughed and slapped his brother's back, “Well bud, it looks like she had a thing with another guy too!” The rest of the night went smoothly, Claudio slowly forgot about the girl and played some campfire songs for the family. Mason told spooky ghost stories that didn’t phase anyone except for Harley who ended up jumping at every little sound the rest of the night. So far the family trip was going off without a hitch. Sometimes, it’s good just to spend time with the ones that matter to you.
