One morning Gretchen was sitting down helping Myles with his homework when Damen came into the dining room grinning from ear to ear. Gretchen looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, he had been acting suspicious lately and not just because he was trying to make up for what he had done but because he was in the study a lot. Damen sat down across from her, still smiling, and Gretchen finally huffed and stared directly at him. Gretchen: What do you want? You've been smiling like that since you walked in here. Myles: Mommy is Dads face stuck like that or something? Gretchen: I don't know baby but he's being really suspicious right now.. Damen: Let's go on a date Gretchen. Gretchen about choked on her food when she heard him say that, Gretchen: A what?! Damen: A date? We haven't been on one since I took you to the spa that one that, and I wouldn't even really call that a date.. Gretchen: But what about the kids? I can't leave them here all alone! Damen: Um if you do remember my dad is retired and the kids already love hanging out with him. Go put a nice dress on and meet me outside by the car. No excuses. Begrudgingly, Gretchen went upstairs and changed into a nice but somewhat racy dress. She was very curious to see what Damen had up his sleeve but she couldn't help but still feel a little stand offish around him. For Creators sake he cheated on her and she hadn't even done anything wrong! By the time Gretchen had made it down to the car her head was a jumble of different thoughts, good and bad. Turns out when they got there she didn't have to dress up as nicely as she had because Damen was just wearing a nice pull over shirt and jeans. Gretchen: I feel overdressed now. Damen reached up and ran his thumb across her cheek, Damen: I think you look beautiful. Gretchen moved nervously from foot to foot. Why was he treating her like this? She hadn't known this kind of thing was capable coming from Damen. Stumbling over her words Gretchen motioned for them to go inside. When they went upstairs the room was bathed in a soft red light and Damen grabbed her hand and brought her to the bar. Damen: What will you be having Gretch? Gretchen: Ummm I don't know, maybe a Fizzy Drink? Damen chuckled to himself and motioned to the bartender to bring them one Salty Llama and one Fizzy Drink. Gretchen raised an eyebrow at him and shrugged her shoulders, Gretchen: What are you laughing about? Damen: Oh, well that drink was my Moms favorite drink to get is all. I think she would have liked you a lot. Gretchen felt like this was the time to strike, to learn more about the man she had married and had 4 kids with. Gretchen: Soooo you've never really told me about your Mom before, what was she like? Damen shrugged his shoulders, Damen: She was really hardworking, she wanted to become a Master Mixologist one day but she knew she had a legacy to uphold. That's where me and my brother came in. Gretchen: Well how did her and your Dad meet? I remember when I first came around he didn't really talk about her that much. Damen: Well that's because in my Dad's eyes that was his "sunshine". Gretchen giggled and shook her head. She knew that Angelo would have come up with some cute name to call his wife. He just seemed like that sweet of a guy. Damen: Anyways, from what my Dad told me him and my Mom met at the local gym where they both worked out and my Dad tried to woo her with his physical appearance but when that didn't work he decided just to try and talk to her. Honestly the rest is history, they never were gone from each other to long after that and when my Mom passed away my Dad lost his other half. When he plays with the kids, that is the happiest I've seen him since before my Mom passed away. But enough about me, Damen held out his hand to Gretchen, Damen: May I have this dance? They got up to dance to the smooth jazz that was playing but it seemed like the bartender was trying to pull some moves on Gretchen and Damen was not having any of it, Damen: Hey man back the plum off my wife. Bartender: If the lady likes what she sees I'm all for a little messing around. Gretchen: Ummm no thanks, I'm fine. Damen grabbed Gretchen around the waist and forcefully led her away from the creepy bartender. When they sat down on the sofa Damen tried to put his arm around her nonchalantly, Gretchen: Whatcha tryna do there mister? Damen: Huh what? I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm just stretching. Gretchen: Uhhh huh. Gretchen: I thought you were just stretching? Damen: Oh well when there is such a gorgeous woman, who also just happens to be my wife, I can't help but wrap my arm around her. Gretchen looked away and at the floor, blushing. Gretchen: Oh hush.. Gently, Damen pulled Gretchens face towards his again. Damen: What I did to you..I can never take back, but I've been trying really hard and today I'm going to show you how much I love you. Gretchen: What are you- Damen grabbed her hand and dragged her over to a different seat. He then left her and went over to go pick up the microphone that was in the corner of the room. Damen: Testing, testing, one, two, one, two. Gretchen mouthed, "What are you doing?!" Ignoring her Damen took a deep breath, Damen: Huh so..where to begin with this..Well today I'm here with my beautiful wife Gretchen Bloomer-Belle. She is my whole world and I've just recently come to realize what that actually means. My whole life I've been nothing but a player, a cheater and an awful person all around. I was mean to my family, my girlfriends, and my friends. I can't take any of that back but I can change what my future is like. I can change myself right here and now. Gretchen, baby, I love you. More than you could ever understand. I knew it back when we first kissed. I felt that spark that I've never felt before. I was angry and scared that I had felt that. I thought I was incapable of loving someone...or more like I didn't feel like I deserved to know what that was like. But then we got married..had Cian and then Myles and finally the twins, Celine and Jax. We've had such beautiful and talented kids Gretch. I don't deserve any of this for how mean and evil I've been my whole life. I see so much of you in Celine. She is so bossy but in a nice way and she is such a leader, not to mention she is the most beautiful girl I've ever laid eyes on other than you. Thank god none of our sons are like me. I wouldn't wish that upon the person I despised the most. Cian, Myles, and Jax are all there own separate person. Cian is such an amazing big brother and is older beyond his years. Myles loves music and is quiet, but knows when to speak his mind. Jax...oh well little Jax is just a big goofball in his own right. He always can find the humor in any situation, good or bad. What I'm trying to get at is we've made the perfect little family, a family I shouldn't have had. I have a wife that I never thought would care about me so much, kids that love me no matter how much I've been out of their life. I have the best life possible and the icing on the cake is that I've learned to love and appreciate everything I have. I know I've done things to hurt you Gretch, just give me one more chance. That's all I'm asking. As soon as Damen was done he quietly hooked the mic back up to the stand and stood there. Gretchen had never seen his face with such raw emotion drawn across it. She jumped up from where she was sitting and gave him the biggest hug she could muster up. With mascara and eyeliner streaking down her face she looked Damen directly in the eyes, Gretchen: If everything you said was true, and if you really feel this way, then I can accept your mistakes and everything that you are. Damen: I promise baby, I'll be different. I will treat you better than you've ever been treated. They sealed the promise with an earnest kiss and spent the rest of the night slow dancing as the moonlight poured in through the windows and glinted off of their wedding rings.
